Cillín
In Ireland, from the 7th Century and continuing to the late 20th Century, unbaptised children were rarely buried in consecrated ground. Denied access to the graveyard, they were buried in cillíní instead. Tommy Weir’s photography exhibition at the Royal Hibernian Academy captured the heartbreaking loneliness and isolation of these places. This catalogue was commissioned to coincide with the exhibition. In order to capture the subtleties of what are very dark photos these images were printed as tritones
